In the Wood

It was interesting experience to try to catch the depth of the wood, where trees spread far and up into the horizon.
Here I used white wax crayon to preserve white of the birches (new drawing material, I bought 12 sticks set from kids section of the supermarket) and sepia marker for highlights.

Learning Zbukvic

Some time ago here, at Wet Canvas, I read and copy/pasted the interesting info about Zbukvic's book "Mastering Mood and Atmosphere in watercolor" and his painting method.
Here are my attempts to show mood and to control watercolor, based on and inspired by the book.
Long road of learning is still ahead.

Color Chart

I could never figure our how to paint watercolor charts. Mix 2 colors first or put in layers? How to keep values? Mix 50%-50% or how to check if the proportion is not precise? How to keep these small squares accurate and lined? If I add a bit of cool color to the warm mix - how to show the interesting result in the chart?
But in the village where I am now I have plenty of free time so I decided to try the chart making. Not sure if I made a treasure or a useless stuff, though.
And few watercolor studies:

Done from photos here.

One more Zinnia. Oils inclined person fights watercolor)))

Cherries

Sometimes I think that I could live on (eating) cherries for the whole summer. Love them!
What is your favorite fruit?

Painting on Glass

The first experiment of painting on glass. There was no planning at all, pure improvisation. Guess what was the idea to paint first? Sun! Big, bright and yellow. Then it was house, garden, trees, sea, mountains, people (I washed them away and replaced by the car, subject more easy too draw).
As if I was 7 years old again.
Try glass painting, too. It is really funny.

Brandy Painting

A friend of mine in the USA told me about American whiskey painters few years ago. Here more details.

The idea to try alcohol for painting was stuck firmly in my head (I am sure there is more correct idiom in English, but I am sure you recognize the feeling). And yesterday I tried brandy. It works perfect, mix with ink and does not run around as water when added to my inks, as there is only 60% of water is in this wonderful thinner.
I highly recommend (at least if any brandy left after you used it usual and more practical way))) to try.

We were sitting in the kitchen, friends drank brandy, I was driving that day. So they generously granted me the painting material for this aloe flower..

Drawing Nature

My drawings from the place where the internet is slow as Russian village (so I can only check my mailbox, slooowly) but the air is fresh and the house is surrounded with gardens and woods.
This post and the following few posts will be scheduled posts, so please do not worry if I do not reply or react to your posts at once.
Flowerbed:
I found the "Draw 50.." series of Lee Ames' books and post here the few of my attempts:

Postcard

Flowers as a birthday postcard for my friend in Europe.

I also post here the more "watercolor-ly" version I tried two days later, wanted to make it more transparent and light. At least it has nice watercolor-ish band))

Plus Google Plus

Yesterday night my Blogger Dashboard disappeared and Google informed me that this blog was forced (broken? cracked? whatever). Well, that was not good news at all. I decided to go to bed and face back the problem in the morning.
After 1 hour struggling my blogs were back to normal but only after I confirmed that I will use Google plus as my blogging account further on.
It was "nice" surprise, as I did not want Google plus at all (FB, LJ, Flickr, Tumblr, etc. - it is already too much of me in the web)). But if I want my blogs and my friends back, I had to sign to G+.

Looks like "free of charge" Blogger is no more free.

Flowers from mom's garden to sweeten the bitter taste of blogging on 1st July.
