Into the Green

My 21 days of creativity were interrupted by trip to the country, where I did some sketches of green world around and some copies of Victorian ornaments (this activity, I like it, shuts my mind and makes steady my hand).

Flowers

Inspired by the exhibition of Arthur Fonvizin, Russian watercolorist (1883-1973),  which I went to few days ago.
I decided to give a try to thick wall paper. Big mistake. Arches, I am sorry, I promise, I, will never again..
50x70cm.

Arthur Fonvizin's airy and breathing art (press here to see).

And quick sketch about Norway waterfalls (15x23cm).

21 Days of Creativity. Day #13.

Task was "Patterns". Find/copy/draw pattern and cover the whole page with it.

I have no idea what is going on here.
I only know that it was impossible and boring for me to methodically draw one and the same pattern.

It should be idea behind any work of art.

21 Days of Creativity. Day #12.

Black and white. Fonts, B&W scans of colored images, scratching on black background, B&W copies of books' pages, whatever.

I knew from the beginning that I wanted to do B&W tree.  Yet again color interfered quite unexpectedly.
47x53cm. Wall paper, B&W acrylic, B&W markers, newspaper, oil pastel.

21 Days of Creativity. Day 11.

Task is to use many layers of colored tissue (cigarette) paper. As I do not have any, I coloured cheap napkins and glued them to ink flowers on grey background. Actually, I had no idea before that tissue paper existed in artbooking activity..

Playground Stuff

I am returning to quick outdoor sketching, weather and time are on my side.
Unfortunately the place was empty that morning.

21 Days of Creativity. Day #10.

This day task is "Take any rubbish and do something artful with it".
That was real fun!
I found old IKEA catalogue and thought about another collage. But unexpectedly all this stuff turned into cozy 3-dimentional  flat with lively inhabitants.
House prone to compromise. 30x35xH13cm.
Made of wall paper roll, Ikea pages, glue and pencils.

21 Days of Creativity. Day #9.

Today's task is to learn to include texts into the pages, typography (that was hard!) and frankness (even harder..).
Burning orange is my color favorite again. Watercolor pencils for background, markers for text.

If you are interested:
5 things I want to do every day:
Breath fresh air, Read, Create, Do yoga, Love
5 things that inspire me:

5 countries I want to visit:
Britain, Ireland, Norway, Civilized Russia, New Zealand, USA, Australia
5 things I love:
Be on the road, Woods, My art materials, Music, World of web.
I felt as I was 15 years old again, when filling this page in. Great experience.

21 Days of Creativity. Day 8.

Task #8 - I have to use gesso as background, add watercolor, zentangles.
As usual I do it my way. As usual, I use all the materials on my table, this time ink and calligraphy  pen (new experience!) is added.
A friend of my commented (she is also in this project): "At last! we buy materials because of empty stock and not because we like shopping".

21 Days of Creativity. Day #7.

Day 7 task is to use more layers and more stamps.
A bit obsessed with orange and reds in general as I look back at 7 days of creativity.

21 Days of Creativity. Day #6.

This scrapbook's style starts getting on my nerves.. I miss straight idea and order of my boring usual sketches!
But. It gives me freedom to use any possible color, to switch on fantasy and teaches me to be sincere with my blog and honest with my readers.
So 6 days are behind and 15 days to go.
Here I took oil pastels (forgotten in the fridge till today) and used them for the accents.
Wall paper roll again, acrylic paint, coloured paper collage, paper dots from punch, palette knife, plastic card, glue.

Sketching People

Figure sketching is always big stress for me. This time it was stress doubled. There was a nice young couple posing in 1, 3, 5 and 15 minutes sessions.
It is funny: when I look at the sketches right after the session they look ugly, lacking proportions and volume. But the next morning the sketches look not so bad, I even satisfied with the result. So what does happen during the night??
Charcoal on craft paper A3 size.

21 Days of Creativity. Day #5

21 Days of Creativity. Day #5 - Make and use your own stamps and stencils.
That was fun, again.
This activity hardly adds anything to my drawing and painting skill, but it frees and relaxes for sure.

21 Days of Creativity. Day #4.

21 Days of Creativity. Day #4. Task is "Go big and free your hand".

I did. 55 x 80cm. Piece of wall paper.

Do you know that wall paper works fine with water based art materials? It does not buckle, it is heavy and no more old wall paper rolls in the storage.

21 Days of Creativity. Day #3

The task was: Go minimalistic.
So I did.
To tell the truth, when I start, I do not know how the finished page will look. This time I decided to fish any one color from the box and use it as background. Then it was some glue and holes living in the hole punch compartment freely salted around, then brown craft paper stripes were cut and glued to the background with no idea and outlined by brown crayon.

21 Days of Сreativity. Day #2.

The task was: Flowers, any possible way.
Yes, I see the spelling mistake now..
Flowers did not expect I'd do so many manipulations here.
Ink, watercolor, marker, white gesso, packing paper, acrylic paint with palette knife and fingers, crayons. Oh, I was happy in this process!

21 Days of Creativity. Day #1

I take part in Russian web project "21 Days of Creativity". This is day 1: "To art-journal your day". Funny, but my day was crazy, exactly like that pages you see here.

I am starting this experiment, because one day I realized that I lost my freedom and "process more important than result" rule in drawing/painting activity. Suddenly the positive reaction of people around me became more important than the joy of art making. And I do not like it that much.
So during these 3 weeks I will try to get back my fun.

One more sketches' page is here. There is no mentor at the event. We all gather and sketch figure without instructions, tasks or comments. Interesting experience, it makes me braver.

Anthurium

40x60cm, watercolor on Arches, plus watercolor pencils, stamp and acrylic paint on curtain.

There are new flowers at my place. Great in design and color, very painting inspiring.

And new painting people experience. And first charcoal drawing experience. Very dusty! But charcoal line feels so good: strong and intense.
